We all are blessed with special Girlfriends in our lives - women or girls who have profoundly changed how we think about ourselves, helped to resolve a problem we are having, or perhaps encouraged us to fulfill a dream. Tell Me Girlfriend wants | to celebrate those special people. This is where YOU come in.
Tell Me Girlfriend is sponsoring our first writing competition. The following are our guidelines for publishing a tribute to your special Girlfriend. The winning essay will receive a Gift Basket worth $250 from Inaraorganic.com.
1. Write an original story about a woman or girl who has been important to you.
2. The essay should be 500 words or less!
3. Submit your essay to info@tellmegirlfriend.com between April 25 and May 14, 2006. Please copy and paste it into the body of your email. Please do not send it as an attachment to your email.
4. Include your name and city. You may remain anonymous (just let us know) but be sure that we can reach you!
5. You may include 1 digital image (optional) (jpg preferred).
6. We will publish all the essays in our Boutiques section. The essays will be rated by Tell Me Girlfriend's "Best Girlfriends."
7. If you are not a Best Girlfriend and you would like the ability to rate your own or other stories, sign up on the Best Girlfriend waiting list found in the Best Girlfriend Sign In tab or email us at info@tellmegirlfriend.com.
8. When your story is published in the Boutiques section, you will be able to forward it to your friends and family, using the "send to a friend" link.
9. The top five stories will be selected for final judging, based on the number of ratings they receive and the final overall ratings. Patti Thorn, author and book critic, will then select the winning entry.
10. The winning story will be published as the Show and Tell Me newsletter on May 18, 2006.
11. The winning author will receive a Gift Basket worth $250 of luxurious babassu sugar rub, organic soaps and beautiful candles from Inaraorganic.com.
Tips for Success
- Submit your story early - more time to gather ratings!
- Keep it under the 500 word limit.
- Get people who like you to rate your story - forward the story to them, and invite them to become Best Girlfriends from the Best Girlfriend link on our website.
- More ratings are better! For example, a story with 25 ratings averaging a 4.0 would be selected over a story with 1 rating of 5.0
- Be really nice to everyone to whom you send your story.
