Use of the Internet has reduced those late, frantic trips to the local library. We are very grateful for the excellent homework resources available online. Today, we are going to share some of our favorites with you, our Girlfriends.
 |
Infoplease (www.infoplease.com) combines an encyclopedia, an atlas, general, sports and entertainment almanacs, a dictionary and biographies. It is a good general source. As with most resources such as this, a search will provide both information and links to more information. It helps to know how to research to use this site. |
National Geographic Homework Help (http://www.nationalgeographic.com/homework/) is a great resource for social studies and science projects. The site is also arranged in a way that is easy for children to navigate - although you may still end up helping out.
| Vivisimo Cluster Search Engine (www.vivisimo.com) is an excellent resource for students in middle school and up. The benefit of this search engine is that it clusters links by category, making it easier to identify which links will be most useful for the project at hand. Our resident expert says |
 |
that it is more forgiving than Google for a beginning Internet searcher.
Good luck. Remember, our parents got through it, and we'll get through it, too.
Your exhaustively-researched Girlfriends,
Suzanne, Terri and Alex
