Zillow (www.zillow.com ) is a very handy tool for calculating the value of your own home, if you are thinking about selling. It is very useful for comparing home prices and values, if you are thinking about buying. Considering a second home? Check out the housing prices and recent appreciation in the area you are pondering. In the wild real estate market we have seen in the last several years (has the bubble burst?) we need all the information we can get. Zillow is useful for more than just buying and selling homes. You can use the Zestimator to get an idea of what an improvement to your home would be worth. Thinking of adding a bathroom or updating your kitchen? Enter those improvements to the basic home value in My Zestimator and see how they would be likely to affect your home's value. And the really fun part? Find out what your neighbors paid for their homes. Type your address into the "Value Any Home" section of the home page. You will see icons of houses. Click on those icons to get sale dates and prices paid. What did your brother- and sister-in-law pay for their house? If you know the address, you can (usually) get the home value information.
