deals, deals, deals!

Your Girlfriends all love a good deal. Today we are sharing some of our favorite discount sites on the Internet. Here's great news - you don't have to save this Show and Tell Me for these sites. Read why at the end of the email.

Fatwallet (www.fatwallet.com) features sales and special offers from a variety of online merchants. The site is set up as forums, and members write in with news of the bargains. We like the hot deal news, the hot deal forum and the coupon forums. You !
can also read of experiences members have had with the merchants, and get your questions answered in Customer Support.

The Saving Depot (www.thesavingdepot.com) is a similar site, although set up by retailer. The discounts can be special
deals, click-through offers or coupon codes. Not every site listed will have a bargain each day, but the offers are summarized on The Saving Depot pages. This enables you to avoid clicking through to offers that don't interest you.

Woot (www.woot.com) features one screaming deal per day. A new item is posted each day at 12:00 am central time, and is available until it sells out
or 24 hours, whichever comes first. Once it's gone, it's gone. Most items are electronics, but occasionally will have something completely different. The writeups are hysterical in themselves. The prices are wonderful, if you need the product. Shipping for one to three products is always $5, no matter what the product. There is a moderated forum with useful information on the product. The FAQs will answer your questions about warranty coverage and so on. An exciting new venture for Woot - WineWoot (www.wine.woot.com) with a sweet wine deal each week!

Midnight Box (www.midnightbox.com) is similar to Woot, but publishes at midnight Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. If you have nothing else to do with your life, you can be online at midnight,
Eastern Time and guess the product as it is slowly revealed for points. If you have a normal life, just  log on later and wait a few seconds for the annoying puzzle pieces to go away and you'll see the product. Midnight Box features electronics almost exclusively. Midnight Box also has a flat $5 shipping rate, and will usually let you buy up to five of the product. Both Woot and Midnight Box have a cultlike following.

Graveyard Mall (www.graveyardmall.com) features overstock and closeout merchandise at
major discounts. The left-side navigation bar will help you around the site. We are very attracted to the Dollar Store, where everything is $1.99 or under. Standard shipping is $6.99 per shipment, which can lead to some additional impulse purchases. You can return products within 30 days.

Sierra Trading Post (www.sierratradingpost.com) began selling closeouts, overstocks and seconds from manufacturers of outdoor gear. As they've grown, they have added merchandise from top manufacturers of gear, clothing,
footwear and home decor. You can search the site by category or by manufacturer. We are very fond of the Calida lingerie from Switzerland, as well as their stock of cashmere. The keyword search function is quite useful for a cashmere-type of search. You can also visit the Bargain Barn for extra-deep discounts.

One last site for the biggest bargains of all - Freecycle (www.freecycle.org). Imagine a place where you could go and get things you wanted for free -
well, imagine no more! This is a bare bones website where people can post things they want to get rid of and post things they would like - all for free!  The first thing you need to do is apply to join in your geographical area. The application process is simple, and it serves more as a screening function than an application. Anyone can join; they just want to make sure your motives are pure. About 24 hours after you have submitted your application you will receive an email with your approval information.  From then on it ! is a give away, take away free-for-all. Everything posted must be free, legal and appropriate for all ages. You also must post something to give away before you start to take away. This is pretty simple; we all have things we don't want. The bigger issue will be to whom you want to give it.  Be prepared to have several potential takers. Likewise, you need to act quickly if you see something you want. Email the person posting right away or it will be gone. An obvious word of caution: when making arrangements to pick up an item, make sure you keep yourself safe. If someone is picking up something from you, you might want to consider meeting in a public place.  Freecycle is a place where one person's trash is another person's treasure.

Now, with great sites like this, why don't you need to save this email forever? Because we save the emails for you on our website, under Email Archives. In addition, we post the sites we feature in Show and Tell Me, and we are in the process of setting up a special section dedicated to Web Bargains, which will be a permanent feature of the Tell Me Girlfriend website. What a resource (if we do say so ourselves)!

Your thrifty Girlfriends,

Terri, Suzanne and Alex
