February is Heart month, so your Girlfriends thought this would be an excellent time to tell you about Africa H.E.A.R.T (www.africaheart.com) or Health Education Africa Resource Team.
Africa H.E.A.R.T. is a Christian-based organization that has | worked since 2000 to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic in East Africa, primarily in Kenya. Africa H.E.A.R.T. provides health education and medical treatment at the grass-roots level. While HIV/AIDS prevention is the primary focus of Africa H.E.A.R.T, they also train local leaders to become trainers themselves and work for the prevention and treatment of "Opportunistic Diseases" such as TB, Malaria, Typhoid and Hepatitis B.
| H.E.A.R.T. teams travel to Kenya for two to three weeks at a time and host seminars on disease prevention in Kenyan villages. As the volunteers pay their own way, more of your donation goes to those in need and less for administration.
The idea behind Africa H.E.A.R.T is simple - good people trying to do good things to help those who |
 | need help. Check it out - you may find that you want to support their work through donations or teaching in Africa.
Your full-hearted Girlfriends,
Suzanne and Alex
