Elemental Memories (www.em-jewelry.com) produces hip, sassy photo jewelry. You may think those are contradictory terms, much like jumbo shrimp, but no! Read on!
Lisa Laverty, the artist at Elemental Memories, creates necklaces and bracelets using your photograph, sterling silver and semi-precious stones. The necklace may be an outfit's focal point or may be worn privately, next to | the heart. For those of us (including one of your Girlfriends) who think we look better in yellow gold, Lisa also makes a necklace of 14 karat gold.
Where Elemental Memories differs from the ordinary, less-than-stylish photo jewelry is that the photo is not applied to a backing and then covered with a clear protectant. Instead, at Elemental Memories your photo is first transferred to classic black-and-white, and then (through some magical process we don't understand) is actually transferred to the clay. The ink is baked right into the clay. The process gives the jewelry an entirely different look and feel. Elemental.
| When you order your piece(s), you will find a link to upload your picture to the Elemental Memories server on the last page of the checkout process. You may use a jpg, gif or bmp file. If your photo is not on your computer, you may also send the order by snail mail. The site has clear directions. |

For tender, sloppy sentiments you may choose to have the back of the tile inscribed. There are a few double-sided pieces that cannot have an inscription, but the site is clear about the setup of the tile. In general, you can have about 40 characters or seven words. Plenty of space to commemorate a date, eternal devotion or some other mushy stuff.
We love these photo tiles for Mother's Day. Get cracking, though - you should have your order in by April 23 for Mother's Day delivery (a few days earlier if you're ordering by mail).
Your elemental Girlfriends,
Alex and Suzanne
